This exceptional coffee is from Ethiopia's only female miller/exporter, Asnakech Thomas. Native to the Amaro region, she works not only to improve the quality of coffee, but also the living conditions of her community. Her coffee is scrupulously harvested, sorted, and milled at her facilities, where she has remarkable control. The coffees are natural processed where the cherries are dried on raised beds. As a brewed coffee, the Amaro Gayo offers notes of baking spices, aromatic woods and, for us, unmistakable blueberry. They say Ethiopian coffee is more like fresh produce, because when it is good, it is like eating peaches at the height of the season. It may be the same next year, maybe not. It is alive.
