West Stockbridge, MA--The No. Six Depot Gallery is pleased to announce the second annual 30under30 multimedia exhibition featuring the work of thirty young artists connected to Berkshire County. The Berkshires, at large, are replete with young talent that goes underrepresented in the public sphere. This show creates a forum for this work to be shared. The show will run from February 20th, 2018 - April 20th, 2018, with an opening reception on February 25th from 4-5:30 p.m.
Twenty-one visual artists will be featured in the show: Molly Ann Almeida, Sam Backhaus, Lee Blackmer, Brielle Collings, Wes Elliot, John Humes, Amy Inglis, Sydney Keyes, Sam Laiz, Daniel Lowenstein, Fiona McTeigue, Dana Miller, Mika Mintz, Dana Piazza, Erin Potter, Emma Sims-Biggs, Ruslan Sprague, Isabella Tobiason, Rebecca van der Meulen, Olivia Wade, and Fiona Wood.
During the show, several live events will be held including:
30under30:2 is a colorful display of the young talent found right here in the Berkshires. The show exhibits a vast spectrum of creativity via a motley collection of artists and art forms including photography, painting, sculpture, woodwork, film, dance, poetry, lighting design, and more. The work ranges from an investigation of “the strangeness inherent in being human”, to a “pursuit of childlike curiosity”, to “self-determining progression, growing freely like ivy.” Some work is born from somewhere in between uncertainty and rigid measurement, trauma and healing, absolutely bizarre and laughably mundane. Some work dares the onlooker to be intimate. As a whole, 30under30:2 showcases the remarkable creative versatility of our local youth.
30under30:2 will run through April 20th, 2018. Most of the artists (including the curator, Mika Mintz) will be present at the opening reception on February 25th, from 4 - 5:30 p.m. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. every day.
